Biography
Holding Space is a psychedelic jam-band that integrates numerous styles of music into one well balanced flow of sound and energy. It is an exploration of the potential to transform the subtle energy that dwells deep within, into a beautiful living being to be cultivated and experienced by all whom choose to share in the moment. The music takes the listener on a journey spanning from the whimsical drift of an astral experience down into the dense terrain of a tribal celebration, climbing its way back up the highest mountain peaks only to leap off and sprout wings soaring back into the atmosphere and beyond. Playing from the heart since late November of 2009, Holding Space has experienced a whirlwind of accelerated motion outward in all directions. The band has moved away from the traditional method of playing shows based on the guidance of a preconceived set list. Instead, through improvisation, they weave together various grooves and riffs from their entire catalog in correspondence with the present moment. They allow themselves to be fully immersed in the energy of that moment generated by the specific setting and people present. By connecting to this flow and activating it’s highest potential energy, the band provides a complimentary energetic experience in order to induce a slight state of entrancement to allow for the vibrations to climb inside the listener and effect vibrational healing on the deepest levels. The partnered use of specific tunings that resonate with the natural vibrations of the Earth and the Human body enhances the healing effects. The music spans many genres from bassy trance dance rhythms to calm and airy spaces to tasty jam riffs to completely off-the-wall haywire psychedelia. Known for filling as much space as possible, each member individually and collectively strives to create a current of sound and energy that is meant to facilitate an experience of opening and healing through music and dance. Touring steadily throughout the year, the band sprinkles the love all over their home state of Texas as well as the entire Midwest and Colorado and is now looking to expand out to the edges of the country. Holding Space has taken very big steps in their first two years having played several major festivals such as: Wakarusa, YMSB Harvest Festival, Tall Tree Lake Music Festival, Oxblood Music and Arts Festival, and Grooveland Music Festival as well as sharing the stage with many nationally touring artists including STS9, Perpetual Groove, and New Monsoon, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus, and Euforquestra. With their powerful and innovative style as well as a great deal of conscious intentions woven into their music, Holding Space is rapidly capturing the attention of audiences all over the country. They are constantly evolving and pushing themselves in new and uncharted directions and because each live show is different, audiences get to share in the experience of spontaneity and unpredictability of the music right along with the band. Holding Space is a movement of sound and energy that is sure to continue building momentum for the next few years and expanding deep into the outer reaches of inner consciousness.
